Sandahl and companies in corona meetings with the Prime Minister

The Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Economic Affairs took stock of the corona crisis from the perspective of companies and trade unions at a teleconference on Wednesday. CEO Lars Sandahl Sørensen, DI, welcomes the government’s priority on dialogue.

The Corona crisis has left a significant negative impact on Danish society and our economy. But close cooperation between business, workers, government and parliament has been crucial to limiting the damage.

Today, Wednesday, Lars Sandahl Sørensen and a number of small and large companies across sectors discussed the current status of the corona crisis with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Economic Affairs at a teleconference, where the two presidents of Dansk Metal and 3F were also present.

– We are on the brink of a critical and decisive new phase, where it is a matter of reopening Denmark in a gradual and controlled way – and at the same time, for all the world, keeping a hand on all the companies and jobs that are under such heavy pressure.

That is why we greatly appreciate the fact that the government is so clearly prioritising dialogue with DI and companies on the necessary solutions at a difficult time,” says CEO Lars Sandahl Sørensen.

Important to open carefully and avoid significant setbacks

The meeting was attended by CEO Niels B. Christiansen from the LEGO Group. Among other things, he stressed the importance of a gradual and controlled reopening of society.

– It is important that we do not jeopardise the clear results we have achieved in containing the infection. It is therefore of great importance – also for business – that we proceed in a controlled, gradual and wise way when we reopen society, says Niels B. Christiansen.

Managing Director Vibeke Svendsen from Envoterm A/S, who chairs DI’s SME Committee, also participated. She points out that many SMEs are cash-strapped and that there is therefore a need to make the aid packages work quickly.

– And then they need to be adjusted to help. There is a clear need for the Export Credit Fund (EKF) to help support Danish exports right now. This is really important – also for small and medium-sized enterprises, says Vibeke Svendsen after the meeting.
